Love cats

If I were an animal--a non-human one, I mean--I would most probably be a cat. In fact, sometimes I think that I am one already. Or mostly. I flatter myself that cats think so, too.

I've never known what it's like to not have cats around. Right now, we have eight "legal" cats (all girls, except for one) and countless strays (all boys from the looks of 'em). There's going to be a sad change soon, though, because plots are being hatched to keep most of them out of the house. I'm worried because it's the rainy season already and they'll be cold and damp outdoors. And nothing demoralizes cats more than the cold and damp.

To cheer myself up, I looked up cat sites and found a cat who doesn't give a rat's ass about the cold and damp:

It's the Marbled Catshark (Atelomycterus macleayi). I found her in Deep Sea Images Library. Isn't she a beauty? (As well as looking like she could pwn everything and everyone. I wonder what she likes to eat.)

After cats, my next favorite non-human animals are fish. But they're a bit harder to be friends with because it's impossible to tell what they're thinking or how they're doing even--unless they do something drastic like go belly-up. An aquariumful of goldfish broke my heart once and, since then, I've tried to stick to mammals.
