CSS horror

Last night, I checked into my Multiply account--I belong, sheepishly, to at least five social networking sites--and found one of my pet CSS peeves. The overlapping text is due to static widths and ruins even the most gorgeous CSS layouts. (It doesn't happen with tables and is ugly in all browsers and resolutions.) To avoid this, names should be kept as short as possible. "umbrella+sewingmachine" would have occupied two boxes with nothing but an oops for my right-door neighbor. But it IS a problem when design doesn't work with content like this.
